Innowell for Clinicians

A brief guide explaining the benefits clinicians will get from using the Innowell platform.

1. What is Innowell?

Innowell is an online mental health platform that along with a clinician, delivers measurement-based care. The Innowell platform is a set of validated clinical instruments that are sent in a user-friendly way to your patient to complete to support clinical decision. It provides detailed results to you and your patient within the platform in real time. Both clinician and client can look at progress or deterioration together through text and graphics to enable visualization of progress or deterioration. Ongoing monitoring via the use of measurement-based care measures and predictive technology also occurs within Innowell. The platform includes resources and care options aligned with your local community to help your client self-manage their mental health between session. You can reassess symptoms at any point of their care by resending the assessment questions remotely or at regularly scheduled intervals. The platform promotes collaboration within teams by allowing for clients to share information with their other health care practitioners.

2. How do patients and clients use Innowell?

Individual clients are invited by their clinician to join Innowell through a confidential email and onboarding process. The clients would then be sent the summary questionnaire that has been developed from validated mental health assessment tools. Once the client answers the questionnaires, the data is reported based on the twenty-six domains that comprise the Innowell platform and measure the client's wellbeing over time. The raw data is graphed and shared with client and clinician on their dashboard/home page of the platform. Clinicians can drill into the data to locate the raw data or remain in the high-level graphing dependant on the needs within the session.

Either of the dashboards below demonstrate the overall outcomes of the client in five areas that compile and group the standardized measures. This gives to a full picture of the client’s overall wellness with respect to the categories of overall health, mental health, social connectedness, suicidal thoughts and behaviours and everyday functioning.
These areas are customizable, however, based on research these groupings provide a meaningful overview of the client’s current state.

3. Why use Innowell?

a. Improved outcomes for your client
Measurement based care is known to improve an individual's care outcomes, increase engagement of the individual in their care and assists in tracking treatment progress.
b. Gives you information to better inform the session.
Measurement based care also allows for insights and communication in a format that differs from the regular session discussions and allows for individuals to have easier to interpret information from their assessments and can track changes related to interventions over time.
c. Lessens paperwork load by producing a document that can be put into records; shared and annotated.
Clinical annotations can be input into the health record; sent to other health care providers within the circle of care or used to refer an individual onto another service.

Using the Innowell platform means not using paper forms, not having to record multiple separate assessments in a file and it helps put assessments and symptoms into a more easily interpretable format for that session and later.

4. How does the client start using Innowell?

An individual is sent a link to the initial Innowell assessment set by email or SMS. Once they have initiated their log in, they are able to begin using the Innowell platform to complete their assessments. The clinician will receive the responses and information in real time which allows for information sharing from the first session onwards.

To ensure that you have the best information from your client, you can send individual assessments based on a particular domain or area of concern, a full reassessment (typically every 3 months) or an overall quick summary that is helpful when looking at several areas of interest.

5. What is someone is very unwell, how can that be flagged in Innowell?

The Innowell platform has the ability to indicate risk and high-level concerns for suicidal thoughts and behaviours. Set within the parameters of the clinical governance for your setting, the tool will flag the primary clinician via email/flag on the screen to indicate more rapid response is required.

Innowell can also show information on the screen that can include crisis numbers and information so that the client can have immediate resources to reach out and contact someone for support. This notification system allows clients to be triaged more rapidly based on acute issues or concerns. The notification promotes active interventions and review to address the suicidal thoughts or mood changes within your caseload. During this notification system, each client will have received immediate crisis information within the platform including the local and national links to crisis lines and immediate support.
